WORLD NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION DAY. INTERNATIONAL COMMEMORATIVE EXHIBITION. HIROSHIMA & NAGASAKI. SCORCHED PARADISE. DON’T FORGET.August 6 – According to the UN decision, World Nuclear Non-Proliferation Day is established. This memorable sad date annually takes us to the tragic events of 1945 in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which marked the beginning of a new era in human life that experienced the horrific consequences of the destructive power of nuclear weapons. Hiroshima Memorial Peace Ceremony is held in Japan on this day. The Chornobyl National Museum opens the International Commemorative Photo Documentary Exhibition. HIROSHIMA & NAGASAKI. SCORCHED PARADISE. DON’T FORGET. Japanese museums joined to the creation of the exhibition: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, and Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, ANT-Hiroshima (Asian Network Trust) NG), and Okiagari Koboshi Project.
The exhibition is united by the sculptural composition “Ashes of the Atomic Age”, by Ukrainian sculptor Astian Rey.
The purpose of the exhibition is to help the new generation understand all the horror that the victims of the atomic catastrophe endured, to prevent the world from forgetting the long-term radiation consequences of a nuclear war, to prevent this from happening in the future.
